CTERA Portal connects to the following devices:
Throughout this guide, the term device refers generically to any of the above devices.
CTERA Edge Filers
CTERA Edge Filers are appliances that seamlessly combine local storage, cloud storage, data protection functionality and collaboration capabilities in a single, cost-effective package. Ideal for enterprise branches, SMBs and remote offices, CTERA Edge Filers can replace legacy file servers and tape backup in a single solution with significant cost savings.
CTERA Edge Filers feature a full set of Network Attached Storage (NAS) capabilities and comprehensive backup and sync and share functionalities, utilizing on-premises storage capabilities for speed and local sharing, while taking advantage of cloud storage for off-site backup, universal access, file sharing, and folder synchronization.
CTERA Edge Filers are managed remotely by CTERA Portal. Template-based management and remote firmware upgrades make it possible to manage numerous gateways while maintaining minimal on-site IT and reducing total cost of ownership.
CTERA Edge Filers include physical appliances and virtual appliances.
See CTERA Edge Filer documentation.
CTERA Drive Share/Protect (Agents)
CTERA Agents are small-footprint software agents that provide both enterprise file sync and share (EFSS) and cloud backup. CTERA Agents connect directly to the CTERA Portal.
CTERA Agents are available for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms, and are licensed for either laptop/desktop use or for servers. In all cases they provide file sync and backup capabilities.
CTERA Agents can be managed remotely by CTERA Portal, where all aspects of backup, sync and agent setup can be monitored and configured from a single console, including software upgrades.
See CTERA Drive Share/Protect (Agent) documentation.
CTERA Drive Connect
CTERA Drive Connect enables you to easily view all your files in the CTERA Portal Global File System in Windows File Explorer or macOS Finder. Using CTERA Drive Connect you mount your CTERA Portal cloud drive as a disk in Windows File Explorer or macOS Finder so you can work on it as a local volume.
CTERA Drive Connect caches content from the portal so that all your cloud drive content in the portal, cloud folders you own and the files and folders shared with you under Shared With Me, are presented as stubs on your local disk, with ACLs fully supported.
See CTERA Drive Connect documentation.
CTERA Mobile for iOS and Android mobile devices, such as tablets and phones, is an Enterprise File Sync and Share (EFSS) app that enables business users to access their files in the cloud securely and view, edit, and store them in the cloud where they can be shared with colleagues, partners and customers.
Users can also easily create and/or update MS Office files online, upload files, such as photos and documents, all directly from their mobile device to their cloud drive.
CTERA Mobile works in tandem with CTERA Portal to provide access to private folders and team project workspaces, as well as the ability to view and download backup files and synced content.
