Note: For an HC100 edge filer, go to Managing Volumes.
You store the CTERA Edge Filer data on a volume, which is defined on a virtual array. For a V-Series edge filer, CTERA recommends that the maximum storage is defined as a single disk when the CTERA Edge Filer is created.
During the initial setup of the CTERA Edge Filer an LVM array, array1, is created with a volume, vol1.
For a V-Series edge filer, if required, you can extend an existing virtual disk, and then enlarge the volume. If you do require multiple disks, for example when running the edge filer in ESXi, where the maximum disk size is 62TB, the additional disks can be added to the LVM-based array.
To setup storage:
- In the CONFIGURATION tab, select Storage> Arrays or Storage > Volumes in the navigation pane and click Storage Setup Wizard.
The Easy Storage Setup window is displayed. In the following screen the edge filer has 2 disks: VIRT2 was enlarged from 100GB to 200GB and VIRT3 was added.
Clicking Format and then Yes to confirm, formats the drive and erases all the data on the drive.
Warning: Formatting erases all data on the drive. - Click Next.
If there are proposed actions, they are displayed. - To continue with the proposed action, click Next.
- Click Finish in the Wizard Completed screen.
If an action was proposed, the action is implemented.
