Managing Device Configuration Templates

CTERA Portal enables you to centrally manage device settings, by assigning devices to configuration templates: When a device connects to a portal with a configuration template, the device inherits the following settings from that template:
Backup Sets – Filters to select files to include in the backup, based on criteria of your choice, such as file type, location, and modification date.
Exclude Sets – Filters to select files to exclude from the backup based on criteria of your choice.
Applications – Select applications on a Windows Server to back up by CTERA Drive Protect.
Backup Schedule – Specify the backup schedule.
Backup Throughput – You can restrict the amount of bandwidth used for backing up files online.
Scripts – Specify CTERA Agent scripts within device templates.
Cloud Drive – Which portal cloud folders are be synchronized with the device, and with which folder each cloud drive folder is synced.
Sync Throughput – Restrict bandwidth for specific hours in a day or on specific days.
Software Updates – A firmware image for all relevant devices.
Update schedule – Configure how and when to install updates.
Consent Page – Configure a consent page that has to be accepted before a user can log in to edge filer that is connected to the portal.
Some of these settings can be overridden by a device user.
Devices can be assigned to templates in the following ways:
- Automatic template assignment.
Devices can be assigned to templates based on the automatic template assignment policy, which specifies a set of criteria for assigning a template such as device type and operating system, as well as an optional default template that is assigned when none of the criteria are met.

Viewing Device Configuration Templates
To view all device configuration templates in the portal:
- Select Settings > Configuration Template in the navigation pane.
The CONFIGURATION TEMPLATES page is displayed.
The portal does not have any predefined configuration templates.
