When the database growsa rapidly due to rapidlt growing logs, truncating the logs table may be necessary to avoid running out of disk space.

Step-by-step guide

Add the steps involved:

  1. Stop portal services on all servers: ctera-portal-manage.sh stop

  2. Start PostgreSQL service on DB server: ctera.sh start_postgres

  3. Change to postgres user and run psql:
    su – postgres
    bin/psql

  4. Truncate the logs table: postgres=# truncate logs;
  5. Stop postgres services: ctera.sh stop_postgres
  6. Start the portal: ctera-portal-manage.sh start

Truncating is faster than doing a delete, but it will remove all the portal logs, so make sure all parties are in agreement before proceeding.
