Adding a Device

You can add the following device types to your account:

  • CTERA Edge Filer
  • Windows, Mac or Linux PC
  • Windows or Linux Server
  • Phone or tablet running iOS or Android

To add a device to your account:

  1. Click the DEVICES option in the navigation pane.

    This page displays all of your devices that are registered to your account.
  2. When you have devices, click image.png to access the Add new device page. Otherwise, the Add new device page is displayed with the possible device options.

    Note

    The Agent options are only displayed when they can be downloaded from the portal.

  3. Click on your type of device you want to add.
    The result is dependent on the device type.
    • For a CTERA Edge Filer, the connection procedure from the CTERA Edge Filer is displayed.

    • For Windows and Mac PCs, the agent for that device is downloaded.
    • For mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, running iOS or Android, you are directed to the relevant web page to download the software.

Removing a Device

If you want to remove a mobile device, it is recommended to wipe the data first, as described in Wiping the Data From a Mobile Device.

To remove a device from your account:

  1. Click the DEVICES option in the navigation pane.

    This page displays all of your devices that are registered to your account.
  2. Click the image.png icon to the right of the device you want to remove and select Delete Device.
    The page changes to the page with the device details and a confirmation message is displayed.
  3. Click Remove or Remove device and all its backups to delete the device.

The device is removed, freeing up the license.
