Changing a Folder Group Passphrase

Only backup folders are passphrase protected.

If the folder group is passphrase protected, you can change the passphrase. A folder group that is passphrase protected has this information displayed when you mouse-over the folder group to the right of the folder group name.

Warning

Changing the passphrase for a folder group will cause all devices using folders in the folder group to be unable to backup files, until the backup service has been re-configured with the new passphrase in the devices administration interfaces.

To change a passphrase:

  1. Select Global File System > Folder Groups in the navigation pane.
    The Folder Groups page is displayed.

    Password protected folder groups are identified with Password Protected displayed under the folder group name.

  2. Select the password protected folder group and click Change Passphrase.

    The Change My Passphrase page is displayed.

    Current Passphrase – The folder's current passphrase you want to change.
    New Passphrase and Confirm Passphrase – A new passphrase.
    The passphrase's strength is displayed.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • If cooperative deduplication is enabled, the default, you must update the passphrase on all devices using this folder group.
    • If cooperative deduplication is disabled, you must update the passphrase on the device associated with this folder group, to enable the device to access the folder.
