Microsoft Office File Locked

Problem

When accessing Microsoft Office type files from a CTERA Edge Filer over the network, you can receive a message that the file is locked by another user.

Cause

The message could be the result of:

1. Windows Search Indexing of network shares
2. Preview Pane
3. Details Pane

Solution

The solution is dependent on the cause.

1. If the cause was Windows Search Indexing, disable Windows Search Indexing.
2. If the cause was the Preview Pane, disable it.
3. If the cause was the Details Pane, disable it.
