Updating the Antivirus DAT File

Prev Next

Antivirus software is constantly being updated to be able to identify the new viruses. Virus definition or DAT files contain virus signatures and other information used to protect the CTERA Edge Filer against existing and new potential threats. Generally, DAT files are released daily.

You can schedule the CTERA Edge Filer to check for new DAT files which are then used when scanning files for viruses. You can also manually check for updates, for example when you think a new DAT file has been released before the scheduled update is set to run.

Notes

To check for updates to DAT files, the CTERA Edge Filer must be able to connect to antivirus update site. If access to the Internet is restricted, you need to ensure that the location is from a trusted list, and you must open port 443 outbound to an address provided by CTERA Support.

If a proxy server is being used, you need to run a command. For more information, contact CTERA Support.

To schedule checking for DAT updates:

  1. In the Configuration view, select Security > Antivirus in the navigation pane.
    The Antivirus page is displayed.
