If previewing a file, , is available, click on the file to view it in the online viewer.
If the file is a Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint or Word file, and Microsoft 365 has been set up by the CTERA Portal administrator, the default is to enable viewing using Microsoft 365. After opening the file to view it, you can also edit it. For more details, see Editing a Microsoft Office File.
The following list of icons changes dependent on what actions you can perform on the preview file:
– Search within the file.
– Pan within the file.
– Select text within the file.
– Rotate the file 90 degrees clockwise.
– Magnify a part of the file. Move the cursor to the part to magnify and press the left mouse button.
– Select a part of the document to zoom in on.
– Resize the content to fit the display size.
– Zoom in.
– Zoom out.
– Print the file.
– Download the file.
– Edit the file, when Microsoft 365 is available. See Editing a Microsoft Office File.
An extensive list of file types is supported. If online viewing is not supported for your file type, CTERA Portal will offer to download it instead.
The following file types are supported (note that the Microsoft file types might be handled as described in Editing a Microsoft Office File):
Document – DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, RTF, CSV, PDF, ODT, ODS, ODP, and many older document formats
Web – HTML, SVG
Image – TIFF, JPG, JPEG, JP2, GIF, PNG, RAS, CAL, MIL, DIB, BMP, PSD, PCT, PCX, DCX, PCD, WMF, EMF, TGA, and many more image formats
Medical Image Files – DICOM, DCM
CAD – DGN, DWG, DXF
Email – EML, MSG
Other – txt
This option is only available if the CTERA Portal setup includes an online preview server, otherwise the option to download the file is displayed.
