CTERA provides a permission, Edge Filer Management that you use to manage shares centrally. The must have the Edge Filer Management permission enabled.
Every edge filer that you want share management from the portal must be enabled for central share management. The edge filers must be from version 7.13.x.
To enable managing shares centrally from the portal
- Make sure that the administrator has the Edge Filer Management permission enabled.

To enable an edge filer to have it's shares managed:
- Login to the edge filer.
- Access the Shares > Shares page.
- Click Enable share management from the portal.
A confirmation window is displayed.
- Click Enable.
When a share is set up in the portal for multiple edge filers, it cannot be modified in the edge filer. If the share is set up for a single edge filer, it can be modified inthe edge filer.
